GAC Philippines joins CAMPI amid local expansion drive

Chinese automaker GAC International Philippines has joined the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), strengthening its role in shaping industry policies as it accelerates its expansion in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing automotive markets.

The membership gives GAC Philippines a seat alongside the country’s leading automotive manufacturers in crafting policies, programs and industry standards aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the Philippine automotive sector.

“Joining CAMPI is a significant honor and a pivotal chapter for our operations,” said Steven Wang, senior vice president of GAC International. “We are eager to leverage this partnership to accelerate our growth in the Philippine market. As we continue re-consolidating our presence in the country, this membership underscores our deep-rooted commitment to providing Filipinos with world-class engineering and a comprehensive, future-ready automotive experience.”

The move comes as GAC deepens its investment in the Philippines. Earlier this year, the company completed its transition into a wholly owned local subsidiary of GAC International under its “ONE GAC” strategy, bringing the GAC MOTOR, AION and HYPTEC brands under a single organization.

The restructuring is expected to streamline operations, improve customer service and strengthen the company’s position as competition intensifies in the Philippine automotive market, particularly in the fast-growing electric vehicle segment.

GAC said the integrated structure will allow faster parts availability, enhanced aftersales support and better coordination across its nationwide dealer network while giving consumers access to a broader lineup of internal combustion, hybrid and battery-electric vehicles.

The company is also banking on its manufacturing experience, including two decades of collaboration with Toyota and Honda, to strengthen its engineering capabilities and hybrid vehicle development.

To support its expansion, GAC Philippines has built a network of 30 dealerships nationwide, complemented by a dedicated parts warehouse and comprehensive aftersales services. The company offers warranties of up to five years or 150,000 kilometers for internal combustion models, while its electric vehicles carry up to eight years of coverage for both the vehicle and key battery-electric components, plus two years of complimentary roadside assistance.

The CAMPI membership reflects GAC’s longer-term ambitions in the Philippines, where global automakers are intensifying investments as demand for cleaner mobility, new technologies and a wider range of vehicle choices continues to reshape the local automotive landscape.
