Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has signed a cooperation agreement with the United Professional Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (UPEEP) to raise professional standards in electrical engineering. The memorandum of understanding sets joint training, research, and knowledge sharing to improve engineers’ skills, strengthen rules for solar and battery systems, and build know-how in nuclear energy. Officials from both groups led the signing. Both sides said the partnership combines institutional strength and field experience to support the country’s energy efficiency and sustainability goals, noting that skilled professionals are key to building a safer and more advanced energy sector.
