Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has launched a new initiative to equip underserved Filipino youth with technology skills, as the country pushes forward with digital transformation. The program, called “TechForGood: Code the Future, Build New Paths,” was piloted in Oriental Mindoro this June in partnership with Stairway Foundation Inc. and LAYERTech Labs.
The effort supports Converge’s shift from an internet service provider to a full technology company, and builds on its long-running partnership with Stairway Foundation that began in 2023. Where earlier work focused on providing devices, connectivity, and protection against online child exploitation, the new program introduces students to basic programming and robotics using open-source tools and low-cost kits, so learning can continue after workshops end.
Activities included training local community leaders to sustain lessons, guiding students to build robots from scratch, and teaching simple coding to operate their creations. Sessions were held for learners from Puerto Galera Academy and Baclayan Mangyan School, helping level opportunities for those with limited access to advanced technology education.
