The Department of Energy (DOE) has confirmed another round of across-the-board fuel price increases taking effect this week, with gasoline set to go up by P6.80 per liter, diesel by P7.32 per liter, and kerosene by P4.22 per liter. The announcement was released by the agency on Monday, following a similar upward adjustment last week that saw gasoline rise by P3.65 per liter, diesel by P10.68 per liter, and kerosene by P11.77 per liter. As of posting, individual fuel retailers have not yet issued their official pricing updates, which are expected to be announced on Tuesday morning.
Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas explained that the latest surge is driven by renewed tensions in the Middle East and disruptions along the Strait of Hormuz, compounded by ongoing conflicts in Iran and Ukraine that have tightened global oil supplies. These supply interruptions have raised concerns over delayed crude shipments to Asian refineries, keeping diesel and related middle distillate prices elevated as refinery output recovers at a slower-than-expected pace. Gasoline costs have also climbed due to robust demand through the peak summer period, which has further strained already limited supply across the region. Bellas noted that while crude prices dipped slightly late last week amid reports of renewed diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, benchmark fuel prices in key trading hubs have remained firm and closed higher for the week.
Based on DOE data covering July 21 to 27, 2026, retail prices in the National Capital Region average P70.30 per liter for RON 91 gasoline, P88.40 per liter for diesel, and P117 per liter for kerosene before the latest increase is applied.
