The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has disbursed P1.64 billion in loans to 23 electric cooperatives across the country for the first six months of 2026. This is 6.5 percent higher than the P1.54 billion released in the same period of 2025.
Announced Thursday, most of the funds – P1.62 billion – went to capital improvement projects to upgrade power distribution and service quality. Romblon Electric Cooperative received P23 million specifically as working capital to settle power bills and keep operations running smoothly.
The loans were provided under NEA’s expanded lending program, which covered regular upgrades, disaster resilience, renewable energy, and operational needs. The agency oversees all 121 electric cooperatives nationwide, ensuring they deliver reliable and efficient power service.
