Alternergy Holdings Corp. announced Thursday that its 128-megawatt wind facility in Tanay, Rizal, has generated electricity for the first time and fed it into the Luzon grid. The project is the first wind farm from the Department of Energy’s second Green Energy Auction to begin supplying power. Awarded in July 2023, it is now 89 percent complete and set to start full commercial operations this October. The project is backed by a P2.3-billion investment from A Brown Co. Inc., with financing from BPI and Security Bank. Alternergy’s 64-MW Alabat wind project in Quezon is also under development and now 83 percenr complete.
