The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said it will accelerate the government’s housing program after delivering or facilitating 575,693 housing units in its first four years, putting the agency halfway toward its recalibrated target under the Marcos administration.
The housing output from July 2022 to June 2026 represents 51 percent of DHSUD’s revised goal of 1.13 million housing units by the end of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s term, reflecting continued efforts to narrow the country’s long-standing housing backlog.
The agency’s commitment follows President Marcos’ fifth State of the Nation Address, where he highlighted the progress of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, noting that more than 500,000 housing units have either been completed or funded, including over 100,000 added during the past year.
Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the President’s recognition underscores the combined efforts of national agencies, local governments, private developers and communities in expanding access to affordable housing.
“More than an affirmation of what we have accomplished, this inspires us to work even harder so that more Filipino families can finally achieve their dream of owning a safe, decent, and affordable home,” Aliling said.
Of the total housing accomplishments, 81,295 units were delivered through direct housing provision, while government financing programs assisted 368,731 families. Another 125,667 housing units were produced under the Expanded 4PH Program.
The figures suggest the government’s housing strategy is increasingly relying on a mix of direct construction and financing support to broaden homeownership while leveraging partnerships with the private sector.
Support for the flagship program also continues to widen. Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo credited DHSUD for helping address the city’s housing backlog, while Colliers Philippines Research Director Joey Roi Bondoc said the Expanded 4PH Program is helping stimulate the affordable condominium market.
Meanwhile, DHSUD cited the latest Social Weather Stations survey showing net satisfaction with the administration’s housing programs for the poor improved to +45 in March 2026 from +38 in November 2025, reinforcing the agency’s push to sustain housing delivery and expand opportunities for more Filipino families.
