ABS-CBN denies management handover reports, clarifies investment and financial data

ABS-CBN Corporation on Monday denied reports claiming its management could be turned over to businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan’s group, stating no such discussions are happening. In an official statement, the media company said news reports suggesting management may be handed over to MediaQuest Holdings or TV5 are not accurate, adding there are no talks with either Pangilinan or Ramon S. Ang regarding this matter. The company explained its ties with Pangilinan and his firms remain limited to the existing content partnership with TV5. ABS-CBN also disputed claims that over P10 billion had been infused into the company since 2020, noting its principal shareholder Lopez Inc. has invested less than P1 billion to date. The clarification came as the firm reported a wider consolidated net loss of P813.30 million for the first quarter of 2026, up from P499.7 million in the same period the previous year. Total consolidated revenues dropped 21 percent to P3.33 billion from P4.23 billion a year earlier, a decline the company blamed on lower industry-wide advertising spending and the lack of election-related ads that boosted earnings in the first quarter of 2025.
