The local digital infrastructure is undergoing a major expansion to keep pace with high-density computing demands and strict data residency policies.
Driven by recent policy mandates like Executive Order No. 119—which requires specified government data to be hosted locally—companies across the country are seeking secure, high-performance data centers. In response, Globe, alongside partners Ayala Corporation and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), is aggressively scaling its AI-ready facilities through its joint venture, STT GDC Philippines.
AI and high-performance computing place unique strains on digital infrastructure, requiring specialized power setups and advanced cooling solutions. STT GDC Philippines’ purpose-built STT Fairview 1 facility is designed specifically for these heavy workloads, featuring liquid-cooling technology for high-density computing. To address the energy intensity of AI workloads, the Fairview campus operates on a long-term renewable energy supply to align with corporate sustainability goals.
“Enterprises are no longer asking whether they will adopt AI. The conversation has shifted to whether their infrastructure is ready for it,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines. “AI workloads place very different demands on data centers… That is exactly what we are building, so organizations can confidently accelerate their AI and digital transformation journeys.”
The push to upgrade national capacity comes amid high market demand:
STT Fairview 1: The facility’s first level of data halls is fully occupied, with the second level currently being commissioned and additional floors under development.
Cavite Campus: Phase 1 is fully operational, with Phase 2 construction currently underway.
With these ongoing expansions, STT GDC Philippines expects its total operational capacity to top 30 megawatts by the end of the year, strengthening the country’s position as a regional hub for cloud and AI investments.
