Borromeo Motoring Group is taking greater control of its electricity costs, tapping COREnergy as its retail electricity supplier for 20 facilities across Luzon as the automotive group seeks to make energy management a more strategic part of its operations.
The agreement covers dealerships and automotive facilities with a combined contracted capacity of about 1.22 megawatts under the Department of Energy’s Retail Aggregation Program. The sites are expected to complete their transition by September.
The move marks the first phase of a broader effort to strengthen power management across Borromeo Motoring’s dealership network, where electricity is a significant operating requirement beyond the showroom floor.
The group represents global automotive and motorcycle brands including Ford, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki, Hyundai, and Yamaha. Its facilities also house service centers, diagnostic equipment, parts storage, administrative offices, and customer-facing operations, making reliable and cost-efficient electricity critical to keeping businesses running.
“At Borromeo Motoring Group, we continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency across our operations,” Group Director Andre Borromeo said. “As our dealership network grows, energy management becomes increasingly important in supporting day-to-day operations and delivering a consistent customer service experience.”
The partnership reflects a broader shift among businesses toward treating electricity procurement as a cost and operational strategy rather than simply an overhead expense.
Through the competitive retail electricity market, qualified businesses can gain greater choice in sourcing power and potentially improve how they manage consumption and costs.
COREnergy Vice President and Head of Operations Marko Sarmiento said modern automotive dealerships are increasingly complex facilities, combining sales, vehicle servicing, parts distribution, and customer experience in a single location.
The partnership also builds on longstanding ties between the Garcia-Sarmiento family of Vivant and the Borromeos, reflecting business relationships developed over generations in Cebu.
For Borromeo Motoring, however, the commercial logic extends beyond the relationship. With 20 facilities moving into the program, the company gains an opportunity to manage electricity across a wider network rather than treating each dealership as an isolated operation.
COREnergy’s Power of Choice platform is designed to give businesses a more active role in managing their electricity supply as they expand.
As operating costs remain under scrutiny, the shift suggests that for companies with geographically dispersed facilities, power procurement is increasingly becoming part of the growth playbook rather than a back-office concern.
