Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is strengthening its push to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digital technologies as it partners with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to expand access to connectivity, digital tools, and artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the inauguration of the DTI AI and Scale Up Center in Makati City on Tuesday, Converge co-founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said the initiative could help build a smarter and more globally competitive Philippine economy.
Uy identified three priorities for helping MSMEs scale, AI-ready infrastructure, reliable connectivity, and workforce upskilling.
“AI is no longer a futuristic concept; it is a present-day catalyst for scale, efficiency, and competitiveness,” Uy said, stressing that businesses need adequate infrastructure to make meaningful use of the technology.
Through Converge SME Solutions, the company is providing the center with high-speed, reliable, enterprise-grade fiber connectivity, which Uy described as the “highway on which digital innovation runs.”
The initiative forms part of the broader MSME Digital Transformation Programs launched by Converge SME Solutions and DTI under a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2025.
The programs seek to give MSMEs access to affordable business-grade connectivity and digital tools while helping businesses strengthen resilience against market disruptions, supply chain challenges, and cybersecurity threats.
Converge and DTI will also conduct experiential activities, learning sessions, and workshops, including in provincial areas and traditional industries, to encourage entrepreneurs to adopt emerging technologies.
The AI and Scale Up Center will provide MSMEs with practical AI literacy and data management skills that can improve operations, create new revenue opportunities, and widen access to domestic and international markets.
For smaller businesses, the push could help narrow the digital divide, but the bigger test will be whether connectivity and AI training translate into measurable productivity gains and stronger revenues.
As AI adoption accelerates, digital readiness is increasingly becoming less of a competitive advantage and more of a requirement for MSMEs seeking to scale.
