Global technology and infrastructure company iSON is moving ahead with a USD 300-million investment in the Philippines, strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure while opening opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, and technology-enabled services.
The company plans to deploy the investment in telecommunications towers and other digital infrastructure, with more than 3,000 towers targeted nationwide. About USD65 million has already been invested, supporting the construction of 450 towers.
The rollout could help close connectivity gaps, particularly in areas where reliable telecommunications infrastructure remains essential to businesses and communities. Better connectivity could also widen participation in the digital economy as more services shift online.
But iSON’s Philippine ambitions extend beyond towers.
Through projects with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, the company is pursuing a USD 50-million modern agri-farming initiative and a 400-megawatt agro-solar project worth USD 200 million. It is also exploring a 40-MW solar project in New Clark City.
The mix points to a broader strategy that links digital infrastructure with food production and clean energy, potentially creating new commercial opportunities around emerging economic hubs.
Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go said the government wants to build an investment environment where capital creates quality jobs while strengthening strategic industries.
iSON Chair Vivek Gupta said the company sees substantial opportunities in the Philippines and plans to increase its local capital deployment.
The company is also exploring digital healthcare and business process outsourcing, potentially expanding its footprint across the country’s technology and services economy.
For the Philippines, the investment could mean more than additional telecom infrastructure. If executed as planned, it could help connect three increasingly important growth areas, digital services, renewable energy, and modern agriculture.
