Travel demand seen rebounding in Q4

The Philippine tourism industry is poised for a stronger finish to 2026 as stabilizing fuel prices and pent-up demand encourage Filipinos to revive trips postponed earlier in the year, with cruises and emerging destinations expected to gain momentum.

Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) president Jaison Yang said travel demand should pick up in the fourth quarter as travelers reschedule trips shelved during the second and third quarters.

“As fuel prices begin to stabilize and many trips postponed during the second and third quarters are rescheduled, we are optimistic that travel demand will rebound strongly in the final quarter of the year,” Yang said.

The cruise sector is expected to be among the biggest beneficiaries as travelers increasingly look for convenient, value-driven ways to visit several destinations in a single trip.

“We believe the cruise sector will be among those that stand to benefit from this renewed demand,” Yang said.

Interest in cruise tourism is also growing among PTAA members following industry training programs and initiatives designed to deepen their knowledge of cruise products and expand partnerships.

PTAA will hold its Emerging Outbound, Cruise and Fly Fair B2B on Sept. 17 at Solaire, bringing together travel agencies and industry players to explore new products, destinations, and business opportunities.

China is also gaining ground among Filipino travelers, supported by aggressive promotions from Chinese tour operators, competitive packages, improved accessibility, and a more convenient visa process.

Mongolia and Central Asian destinations, particularly Kazakhstan, are likewise attracting attention as Filipino travelers broaden their horizons beyond traditional markets.

Yang said younger travelers, families, and corporate incentive groups are emerging as key markets for these destinations, reflecting stronger demand for fresh and more experiential travel.

The trend suggests outbound tourism is entering the fourth quarter with a wider menu of choices, as travelers return to the road while seeking destinations that offer novelty, convenience, and value.
