Converge data center gets BOI Green Lane boost

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is set to accelerate its multi-billion-peso Angeles Data Center after securing Green Lane status from the Board of Investments (BOI), clearing regulatory hurdles as the telecommunications company expands into higher-value digital infrastructure.

Through its digital infrastructure arm Pentagon Digital Global Corp., Converge secured a Green Lane Certificate of Endorsement for the Pampanga facility, classifying the project as a strategic investment under Executive Order No. 18.

The designation provides dedicated investment facilitation and simultaneous processing of permits across government agencies and local governments, potentially shortening the project’s time to market as demand grows for cloud computing, co-location, and data storage.

“Investors are looking for predictability and ease of doing business, which is precisely what this endorsement provides,” BOI Investments Assistance Center Director Ernesto De Los Reyes said.

The BOI’s Green Lane program now covers P6.36 trillion worth of strategic investments.

Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said faster government processing would help the company deploy critical computing infrastructure sooner.

“With this strategic designation, we are eliminating regulatory friction to deploy resilient, world-class compute capacity faster,” Uy said.

The Angeles Data Center will connect to Converge’s nationwide fiber-optic backbone and serve enterprises requiring high-density computing, cloud workloads, and regional data storage.

The project forms part of Converge’s strategy to broaden its business beyond connectivity into data centers, enterprise cloud computing, and carrier-neutral co-location.

Chief Finance Officer Robert Leo Yu said Converge would continue working with the BOI on projects aimed at expanding the country’s digital infrastructure.

BOI Managing Head Ceferino Rodolfo said the investment supports the government’s industrial priorities by providing infrastructure needed for the Philippines’ digital transformation and long-term economic resilience.

For Converge, the Green Lane endorsement effectively gives its data center expansion a clearer runway as competition for digital infrastructure investments intensifies across the region.
