Manulife president and chief executive officer Phil Witherington visited Manila recently to meet with Chinabank’s executive leadership, highlighting the deepening long-standing bancassurance partnership between the two firms through Manulife China Bank Life Assurance Corporation (MCBL).
The meeting follows the 2025 renewal of their partnership, extending their joint venture for another 15 years. First launched in 2007, MCBL now operates across 650 Chinabank and China Bank Savings branches nationwide, offering life, health, wealth, savings, and retirement products to support Filipino families’ long-term financial security. Since the renewal, the venture has posted double-digit year-on-year growth.
“MCBL’s strength comes from Manulife’s global insurance expertise and Chinabank’s trusted banking network,” said Witherington. “With our renewed 15-year agreement, we are well-placed to help more customers protect what matters most, plan ahead confidently, and build more secure financial futures.”
Chinabank chairman Hans Sy noted the partnership’s foundation: “MCBL has grown through trust, shared values, and commitment to customers. We look forward to helping more Filipinos safeguard their loved ones and goals through accessible protection and financial solutions.”
Amy Gochuico, MCBL president and CEO, added: “Our partnership is rooted in understanding Filipino customers. With continued support from both groups, MCBL moves forward with strong momentum, focused on helping more people make meaningful choices for better lives.”
