Consumer finance company Skyro is expanding support for Philippine small businesses beyond financing, offering merchant tools, account management, and marketing assistance as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contend with credit constraints and pressure on consumer spending.
Skyro said it now partners with more than 5,000 SMEs nationwide through a model that allows merchants to offer installment financing to customers while accessing business support services.
Merchant data showed businesses using Skyro’s financing solutions recorded a 30-percent increase in average basket size, as installment options enabled customers to make higher-value purchases.
At partner stores, eligible customers can purchase gadgets, appliances, equipment, and other products through Skyro Product Loans, with repayment periods ranging from three to 24 months.
Beyond payment options, Skyro for Business provides merchants with a dedicated business portal, account management, and marketing support. SMEs can apply to become partners and receive feedback within as fast as two days, the company said.
The initiative comes as MSMEs, which account for about 99 percent of Philippine businesses and 63 percent of employment, continue to face financing constraints.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data showed only 4.48 percent of the banking industry’s P12.8-trillion lending portfolio went to MSMEs as of end-June.
Skyro said giving merchants financing options for customers can help businesses convert demand into actual purchases while creating opportunities for repeat and higher-value sales.
The company said the broader support is increasingly relevant as SMEs navigate rising operating costs, changing consumer behavior, and pressure on household purchasing power.
By combining financing with tools designed to help merchants sell, manage, and market their businesses, Skyro is positioning its platform as more than a payment solution, seeking to help SMEs turn consumer demand into sustained business growth.
