GCash, Taptap Send team up for easier, fee-free remittances for OFWs

GCash has partnered with Taptap Send to streamline remittance services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Bahrain, with plans to roll out across key markets including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The collaboration enables OFWs in Bahrain to send funds directly to GCash accounts with greater ease, and for a limited time, transfers come with zero service fees—subject to standard foreign exchange rates.

This alliance forms part of GCash’s ongoing push to team up with accredited global partners to deliver safer and more convenient money transfer options for Filipinos abroad. Beyond Bahrain, the service will gradually extend to the US—including Hawaii but excluding Las Vegas—alongside Canada, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and a wide range of European nations such as Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Czechia, Estonia, and Hungary. French territories Mayotte and Réunion are also included in the expansion roadmap.

“Our partnership with GCash allows us to make it even easier for overseas Filipinos to send money home through a trusted digital platform,” said Faye Sta. Ana-Corpuz, Taptap Send head of Philippines Growth and SEA Expansion. “By offering convenient transfers, competitive exchange rates, and zero transaction fees in supported corridors, we want to help OFWs make every remittance count and stay connected to the people who matter most.”

The tie-up also underscores the value of relying on official, accredited remittance channels, which offer stronger transaction security and traceability while lowering risks linked to unregulated or hard-to-track intermediaries. Remittances remain a lifeline for countless Filipino households, underpinning daily expenses and long-term financial stability—a priority shared by both firms.

“At GCash, we recognize the important role remittances play in helping Filipino families manage their everyday needs and build a more secure financial future,” stated Carlos Bauza, GCash International Vice President for International Payments. “By working with trusted international partners like Taptap Send, we are expanding access to safe, convenient, and reliable ways for Filipinos abroad to send money home while strengthening their connection to the Philippines.”
