FedEx has appointed logistics veteran Garrick Thompson as its new managing director for the Philippines, bringing back an executive with nearly two decades of experience at the global courier and logistics company.
Thompson returns to the Philippines after more than five years as managing director of FedEx Indonesia. He previously held leadership roles in the Philippines across sales and other functions, where he helped drive revenue growth and expand the company’s customer base.
In his new post, Thompson will oversee more than 1,300 FedEx employees in the Philippines, with a focus on operational excellence, customer experience, and helping local businesses reach international markets through cross-border trade.
He will also oversee the Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Center, which handles customs clearance, trade compliance, and critical cargo documentation supporting shipments across key global markets.
Thompson’s return comes as FedEx continues to invest in the Philippines, including the expansion of its Clark facility.
The Clark operation serves as an important transshipment gateway for the company, supporting regional connectivity and its broader growth strategy in Southeast Asia.
His appointment places a seasoned FedEx executive back in a market where he previously helped build the company’s commercial footprint, while the logistics industry faces growing demand for faster, more integrated cross-border services.
For Philippine businesses looking to sell beyond domestic markets, the focus is increasingly shifting from simply moving packages to navigating the customs, documentation, and trade requirements that come with global commerce. Thompson’s mandate puts those capabilities squarely within his portfolio as FedEx seeks to deepen its role in connecting Philippine businesses to customers and markets abroad.
