Manulife Philippines names Ganesh Murugesan as CIO

Manulife Philippines has appointed Ganesh Murugesan as chief information officer, putting a technology executive with nearly 25 years of insurance experience at the helm of its information technology function.

Murugesan will also join the company’s executive committee. He previously served as Manulife Philippines’ head of delivery and spent eight years with Manulife’s Regional Technology team in Hong Kong, where he helped strengthen delivery capabilities and led major transformation programs across Asia.

His experience spans the development and delivery of technology solutions supporting distribution growth, operational transformation, and customer experience across insurers in the region.

“Ganesh brings deep expertise and a strong execution track record that will be critical as we continue to strengthen our technology capabilities and drive transformation across the business,” Manulife Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Rahul Hora said.

Hora said Murugesan’s regional experience and leadership would help align technology priorities more closely with business outcomes and support the delivery of seamless, efficient, and customer-focused solutions at scale.

The new CIO said his focus would include strengthening execution and technology capabilities across the organization.

“I’m excited to work with colleagues across Manulife Philippines to strengthen execution and technology capabilities that help us deliver better outcomes for our customers, distributors, and colleagues,” Murugesan said.

He also pointed to artificial intelligence and innovation as key areas for improving customer experience, increasing speed to market, and supporting the company’s growth ambitions.

“By investing in our people and transforming our business through AI and innovation, we can improve customer experience, increase speed to market, and accelerate the company’s growth ambitions,” he said.

Murugesan’s appointment comes as Manulife Philippines continues to link technology investments more closely with business operations, customer experience, and distribution, giving the company a CIO with both local and regional experience to lead that effort.
