Twenty-nine Luzon and Visayas electric cooperatives have secured long-term power supply agreements (PSAs) with six generation firms, ensuring stable electricity for millions, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) announced Thursday.
Signed by the Luzon and Visayas Electric Cooperatives Aggregation, the contracts cover 445MW and 120.5MW capacity blocks via a competitive bidding process. Partners include Sual Power, Therma Luzon, Malita Power, Palm Concepcion Power, Therma Visayas, and First Gen/EDC.
NEA chief Antonio Almeda said the deals cut outage risks, strengthen co-ops’ operational capacity, and support households, businesses, and vital services across 19 Luzon and 10 Visayas regions. NEA oversees 121 co-ops nationwide, monitoring performance and offering financial support to boost service reliability.
