BSP chief Remolona earns third straight ‘A-‘ rating from Global Finance

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli M. Remolona, Jr. has secured an “A-” rating in Global Finance magazine’s 2026 Central Banker Report Cards, marking his third consecutive year of receiving this distinction from the international publication. This consistent recognition highlights the reliability and effectiveness of the monetary policy direction under his leadership, carrying significant weight in the global financial community as the report cards are widely seen as a benchmark for evaluating central bank leadership and policy effectiveness worldwide since 1994.

Expressing gratitude for the honor, Remolona said, “What wonderful recognition! So grateful to Global Finance and to Team BSP. This will inspire us to work even harder to serve the Filipino people.”

The annual assessment reviews central bank governors from nearly 100 countries, territories and districts, grading performance from “A+” (excellent) to “F” (failure) based on critical factors: inflation control, economic growth support, currency stability, interest rate management, and political independence. Remolona ranks among an elite group of only 25 central bank leaders globally who achieved any grade within the “A” scale this year.

This achievement underscores the BSP’s ongoing dedication to promoting price stability, financial security, and efficient payment systems that underpin sustainable economic growth. The consistent top-tier performance provides stronger credibility for Philippine monetary policy, helping anchor market expectations and enhancing the nation’s standing among global investors and policymakers.

Global Finance’s full 2026 Central Banker Report Cards will appear in the magazine’s October print and digital editions, and available online at GFMag.com.
