Smart Communications, the country’s first telco with GSMA Open Gateway-certified Number Verification API, has secured GSMA certification for its SIM swap and device swap APIs. These power SmartSafe NetIdentity under PLDT Enterprise—building on earlier certifications for Number Verification and RoamStatus.
SmartSafe NetIdentity lets businesses detect recent SIM or device changes via Smart’s network, spotting potential account takeovers early. This adds a critical security layer without slowing user experiences, making it ideal for banking, fintech, e-commerce, and gaming sectors. It helps enterprises assess risk, apply targeted checks, and move beyond traditional OTP limits.
“Digital trust is built in everyday moments,” said Benedict Patrick V. Alcoseba of PLDT Enterprise. “SmartSafe NetIdentity delivers globally certified protection without unnecessary friction.”
GSMA Asia Pacific Head Julian Gorman noted the certification reflects Smart’s commitment to secure, standardised digital identity ecosystems. Launched in late 2025, the SmartSafe suite is the country’s first telco-enabled fraud management API portfolio. As security becomes central to customer experience, Smart and PLDT Enterprise help businesses balance safety and speed across the digital economy.
