Security Bank and MUFG Bank are advancing their 10-year strategic partnership, as MUFG Manila bolsters its presence in the country with an upgrade to a universal banking license this 2026—the same year their alliance marks a decade of collaboration.
Both banks will keep operating independently while leveraging their respective strengths: Security Bank’s extensive local reach, including 400 branches nationwide and deep client relationships, paired with MUFG’s global capabilities and institutional banking expertise.
“MUFG’s continued commitment to the Philippines is good news for the market,” said Security Bank President and CEO Victor Lee. “Our partnership has thrived for 10 years because we complement each other. We know the local market and clients well, while MUFG provides global reach and know-how. Together, we deliver greater value to those we serve.”
Masami Yoshitake, MUFG Manila Branch Country Head, noted: “The Philippines is a key market for MUFG, and Security Bank remains a vital strategic partner. As we expand our footprint here, we look forward to building on our shared achievements over the past decade.”
The license upgrade does not alter the partnership’s core direction. Both firms will continue pursuing independent business strategies. Any future collaboration opportunities will be assessed regularly, in full compliance with regulatory and governance standards.
