TIEZA sees tourism investment surge in Q4

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) expects tourism investments to accelerate in the fourth quarter, with P2.56 billion worth of proposed projects already in the pipeline following P4.63 billion in registrations in the first eight months of 2026.

TIEZA Assistant Chief Operating Officer Karen Mae Sarinas-Baydo said the agency is processing eight applications representing P2.56 billion in proposed investments and 569 potential jobs.

“We have quite a lot in the pipeline,” Sarinas-Baydo said, adding that TIEZA expects “quite a lot” of registrations in the fourth quarter as more investors become aware of incentives available to tourism enterprises.

TIEZA registered seven projects worth P4.63 billion from January to August, already equivalent to about 81 percent of the P5.74 billion invested in 16 projects for the whole of 2025.

The latest pipeline includes five applications worth about P1.07 billion and 256 potential jobs targeted to open this year. Three other projects represent roughly P1.49 billion and 313 potential jobs.

Since 2021, TIEZA has registered 34 projects under the CREATE and CREATE MORE laws, representing P14.50 billion in committed investments and 2,826 jobs.

Projects registered in 2025 through August 2026 accounted for P10.37 billion, or 71.5 percent, of the total, highlighting the recent acceleration in tourism investment.

Sarinas-Baydo attributed the pickup partly to streamlined guidelines and faster processing, which has been cut to 20 days from earlier longer timelines.

“For us, it’s not just about offering incentives,” she said. “We need to make the process easier, the destinations ready, and both government and the private sector moving toward the same direction.”

Projects registered from July 2025 through August 2026 include Seda BGC Tower 1, Seda Centrio, Seda Abreeza, Lagen Island Resort, The Suites at Lipa, The Lind Hotels Coron, and Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila.
