Solviva Energy, the residential solar venture backed by Aboitiz Power Corporation, is expanding its service footprint across and beyond the Greater Manila area, riding growing public interest and streamlined government rules that make putting up rooftop solar systems simpler.
The company now aims to broaden its reach and product lineup to serve more households, according to Solviva CEO Coby Cobankiat. He noted that shifting global energy conditions, driven by ongoing conflict in the Middle East that disrupted shipping and caused price swings, turned rising market interest into clear demand. Instead of seeking out customers, the company now finds households coming to them directly.
Official support came in August, when the Department of Energy issued Department Circular No. DC2026-08-0017, easing installation requirements for residential homes, medical facilities, and small businesses. Cobankiat said these policies create an environment designed to speed up adoption, strengthen compliance across the sector, and support long-term industry growth.
Customer interest has climbed sharply: inquiries between March and August 2026 jumped 272 percent compared with the same period last year. Cobankiat also pointed to a noticeable shift in how customers use electricity once systems are in place, with overall consumption rising—a trend he sees as positive, noting solar power enables better quality of life and greater productivity. He cited World Bank data showing the Philippines has among the lowest per capita electricity consumption levels in Southeast Asia.
Unlike providers requiring large upfront payments, Solviva offers zero-down, rent-to-own plans with fixed monthly installments spread over up to five years, with payments starting 30 days after installation. Cobankiat explained this removes the cost barrier so customers do not need to save heavily first; instead, they can use monthly savings on electricity to help cover payments. Packages cover every step from initial site assessment to long-term after-sales support throughout the system’s roughly 25-year lifespan, with Cobankiat emphasizing the importance of having a reliable provider available over the full period.
Launched in 2023 under AboitizPower’s innovation arm 1882 Energy Ventures, Solviva delivers clean energy solutions directly to households, with Cobankiat saying the company focuses on building lasting trust rather than completing one-off sales, and aims to present clear, simple choices to every customer.
