Maya, the country’s leading financial services platform, has rolled out digital payment facilities for the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), starting with fees under its National External Quality Assessment Scheme (NEQAS).
Launched in August via Maya Business Manager — Maya’s unified business platform — the system lets participating laboratories pay NEQAS dues online, cutting the need for in-person transactions nationwide. Maya is the country’s top merchant transaction acquirer and only large-scale omnichannel acquirer; Maya Bank is the Philippines’ largest digital bank.
Over 6,000 laboratories across the country stand to benefit. NEQAS testing is mandatory for labs applying for or renewing their DOH License to Operate. Easier, faster payments mean fewer manual steps and less travel time for institutions, while stronger program participation boosts the reliability of lab services for patients and communities.
RITM — the Department of Health’s core research arm for infectious and tropical disease control — gains streamlined collections, better tracking and simpler reconciliation. The platform supports payments via QR, e-wallets, bank transfers, and debit or credit cards. This NEQAS launch serves as a foundation to expand digital payments across more RITM programs.
