The government is expanding an existing economic zone in Cavite, opening an additional 1.46 hectares for companies seeking sites to establish or expand operations in the province.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued Proclamation No. 1460, adding several parcels totaling 14,640 square meters in Barangay Sta. Rosa I, Noveleta, to the existing Cavite Economic Zone II.
The move increases the amount of land that can be developed for economic zone activities and offered to prospective locators, potentially widening Cavite’s capacity to accommodate industrial and export-oriented investments near Metro Manila and key transport links in Southern Luzon.
The additional properties will fall under the economic zone framework administered by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). Qualified registered enterprises may operate within the zone subject to PEZA’s investment, registration and regulatory requirements.
The expansion was authorized under Republic Act No. 7916, or the Special Economic Zone Act, as amended by Republic Act No. 8748, and followed a recommendation from the PEZA board.
Notably, the move stems from PEZA Board Resolution No. 16-189, issued in 2016, suggesting that the proposed expansion had been under consideration for years before its formal designation.
The latest proclamation adds to the inventory of economic-zone land in Cavite as the government continues to promote investments in manufacturing and other export-oriented industries.
Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1460 on Sept. 28 on behalf of the President.
