De Ocampo earns first-ever Michigan Ross Global Alumni Achievement Award

Dr. Roberto F. de Ocampo, OBE, former Philippine Secretary of Finance and current Veterans Bank Chairman Emeritus, will be presented with the first-ever Global Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Created this year, the honor recognizes Ross School alumni whose professional success, public service, humanitarian work, and community leadership have created meaningful, lasting change across nations and sectors. Dr. de Ocampo was chosen for the award in appreciation of his outstanding work in public finance and national economic progress. From 1994 to 1998, as the country’s top finance official, he was central to the Philippines’ economic turnaround and represented the nation in key global and regional financial bodies.

Beyond government service, Dr. de Ocampo led Veterans Bank as Chairman from 2013 until stepping down in 2025, helping the bank stay true to its core mission of serving Filipino veterans while upholding strong, responsible banking standards. This new recognition further cements a career defined by integrity and excellence in public office, the banking sector, and international economic engagement. As the very first recipient of this global distinction, his achievement also underscores the kind of responsible leadership that strengthens both local communities and broader economic systems—a legacy that reflects well on the institutions he has served and on the Philippines itself.
