Boomi expands AI enterprise capabilities with acquisition of Elementary Data

In a strategic move to address the growing demand for trusted data in artificial intelligence deployments, Boomi has officially acquired Elementary Data, a leading provider of data observability solutions. Following its recent acquisition of Lunar.dev, this latest addition significantly strengthens the Boomi Enterprise Platform by integrating advanced observability, data quality, governance, and discovery features essential for modern enterprise AI.

The deal highlights a critical shift in how organizations handle enterprise data as AI adoption expands. As companies increasingly delegate autonomous decision-making to AI agents, unreliable data moves from an operational inconvenience to a severe business liability. A recent Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Boomi revealed that while 86 percent of leaders have progressed past AI agent pilots, only 34 percent fully trust the actions taken by their agentic systems, with premature deployments costing organizations an average of $2.1 million in added expenses.

By incorporating Elementary, Boomi addresses this trust gap at its core. Elementary enables data teams to proactively detect, triage, and resolve data anomalies across dynamic pipelines before compromised information reaches dashboards, predictive models, or AI agents. The platform offers agent-driven pipeline and context monitoring, column-level data lineage, governance catalogs, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integration to expose data health directly to AI tools. Furthermore, Elementary provides AI agents that automate test creation, incident triage, and performance optimization across apps and devices.

These capabilities complement Boomi’s Active Data Foundation, which continuously moves, grounds, and governs data across complex enterprise networks. Unlike traditional platforms that focus solely on data at rest within static warehouses, Boomi puts data in motion, ensuring contextualized and reliable information flows seamlessly wherever it is needed.

Founded in 2022 as an open-source project, Elementary quickly built a strong footprint in the data engineering ecosystem, accumulating over 1,500 adopting data teams, 1.1 million monthly downloads, and a vibrant community of roughly 4,000 members. The subsequent launch of Elementary Cloud brought enterprise-grade scaling to its popular code-first architecture.

Boomi Chairman and CEO Steve Lucas emphasized that AI is only as trustworthy as the underlying data behind it, noting that adding Elementary’s observability and governance layer ensures that the data activating customer AI systems remains reliable, explainable, and enterprise-ready. Maayan Salom, CEO and Co-Founder of Elementary, echoed this sentiment, stating that joining Boomi allows the company to extend software-grade reliability tooling across Boomi’s network of more than 30,000 customers and 800 partners, establishing trusted data as the default standard for the AI era.
