Vivant retains 3 Golden Arrows as governance recognition extends

Vivant Corp. has secured three Golden Arrow recognitions for the second consecutive year, extending its corporate governance awards streak to five years as the Philippine energy and water group highlights accountability and long-term business stewardship.

The Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) presented the distinction on Oct. 23 at Makati Shangri-La, Manila, under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Golden Arrow Awards 2026. The assessment evaluates publicly listed companies on shareholder rights, stakeholder relations, transparency, disclosure, accountability and ethical business practices.

“Earning three Golden Arrows a second time tells us that good governance at Vivant is a discipline we keep, not a target we reach once,” said Maila G. de Castro, Vivant corporate secretary.

The company’s scores have improved since its first recognition in 2022, when it received one Golden Arrow. It earned two in each of the following two years before securing three in 2025 and retaining that level in 2026.

The ICD grants the awards to companies scoring at least 75 points in the ACGS assessment, which measures conformance with the Philippine Code of Corporate Governance and internationally recommended governance practices.

For companies operating infrastructure expected to serve communities over extended periods, governance can shape investment decisions, risk management and stakeholder confidence.

“In energy and water, we build assets meant to serve communities for decades, so every decision we make today has to hold up over the long term,” said Vivant chief executive officer Arlo G. Sarmiento.

The latest recognition adds to the company’s other accolades this year. Forbes Asia included Vivant in its Best Under A Billion list for the second time, following its debut in 2020. The list recognizes 200 top-performing small and midsized publicly listed companies across the Asia-Pacific region.

Vivant also maintained its Great Place to Work certification for 2025–2026, after receiving the distinction for 2023–2024.

While the awards provide external benchmarks for performance and workplace practices, sustaining those standards will depend on how consistently the company translates governance commitments into operational decisions as its businesses grow.
