SM Investments Corporation has earned the Institute of Corporate Directors’ highest Five Golden Arrow rating for the third straight year, based on the 2025 ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard review.
Group affiliates SM Prime Holdings and China Banking Corporation also received the top Five Golden Arrow distinction, while BDO Unibank and Belle Corporation got Four Golden Arrows. The annual assessment grades firms on shareholder protection, transparency, board oversight, sustainability and stakeholder relations to help investors compare corporate governance standards.
SM Investments’ board is headed by independent chairman Amando M. Tetangco Jr., former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor, who said strong governance is key to building lasting value for stakeholders. The board oversees group‑wide strategy, risk management and major investments across retail, banking and property, with each subsidiary running its own board and management team.
President and CEO Frederic C. DyBuncio noted the award underscores the group’s commitment to integrity and responsible stewardship as it marks 68 years since the first Shoemart store opened, carrying forward the founder’s core values of trust and integrity.
