One Meralco Foundation (OMF) and B&M Global Services Manila (GSM) have installed a solar power system at Libis Elementary School, bringing reliable clean energy to more than 200 students and teachers, many from the Dumagat Remontado indigenous community.
Under OMF’s School Electrification Program, the solar system powers classrooms, computers, and learning tools, opening up modern digital lessons previously unavailable in this off-grid area. B&M GSM also distributed Balik Eskwela kits to all learners, while Meralco Employees Fund for Charity (MEFCI) donated a TV, laptop, printer, and speaker set.
“Development begins with access, and access creates hope,” said GSM Executive Director Lorie Barredo. School Principal Jinky Martinez thanked the partners, noting learning can now continue even on rainy days and that students are also learning about renewable energy. OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao said the partnership shows shared purpose lights up futures; since 2011, OMF has energized 309 off-grid public schools nationwide.
