The government plans to let businesses register with key employee-benefit agencies through a single digital platform, potentially eliminating separate filings with the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Pag-IBIG Fund.
Information and Communications Technology Secretary Robert Joseph de Claro said the eGov platform would allow local and foreign investors to submit company information once, with relevant data shared among agencies after registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission or Department of Trade and Industry.
The integration is intended to reduce paperwork and speed up the process of bringing businesses into the formal economy, De Claro said during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Nov. 3 meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council’s Digital Infrastructure Sector Group at Malacañang.
The Palace, however, did not provide a rollout schedule or estimate of how much time and money businesses could save.
The government is also preparing to use eGov to simplify SSS death and funeral benefit applications by linking social security records with civil registry data.
De Claro said the service could be available in the coming months. The SSS and civil registry are already among the platform’s 40 participating agencies.
“Yun talaga ang tinutumbok nito, na bawasan natin ang pila, bawasan ang interaction,” he said.
Marcos also discussed the Bayanihan SIM Project and called for greater private sector participation in extending internet access to remote communities.
The meeting also covered cybersecurity risks to online banking, digital payments and e-commerce, particularly as consumers and small businesses become more dependent on digital services.
The integration will require participating agencies to connect their systems and enable data sharing before businesses can complete multiple registration requirements through a single platform.
