The various entities submitting unsolicited proposals to optimize the country’s airport infrastructure are seen subjected to a Swiss challenge within the first three months this year.
This was learned Wednesday from Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista who said the first of several challenges relate to the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental and the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
In such exercises, unsolicited proponents of key infrastructure projects earlier granted original proponent status (OPS) face rival offers from competitors looking to present government with better priced and quality offers.
“We have communicated this to the proponent and we’re just completing the final terms,” Bautista said.
Thereafter, Bautista will report to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) just before the exercise is done hopefully within the quarter.
Aboitiz InfaCapital Inc. previously secured original proponent status (OPS) for the new Bohol-Panglao International Airport and the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental from the Duterte administration.
Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. also secured an OPSl for the Davao International Airport project.
The DOTr awarded Mega7 Construction Corp. an OPS for the Kalibo International Airport.
Other unsolicited proposals granted an OPS by then President Duterte include Prime Asset Ventures Inc. of the Villar Group for the Puerto Princesa Airport, the Iloilo International Airport and the Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. for the Siargao Airport in Surigao del Norte.
