PCPC’s 135-MW pulverized coal burning power plant in Iloilo resumes full operations

Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) said that its 135-MW CFBC Power Plant in Concepcion, Iloilo is fully operational again to meet the power needs of its service area.

Quartzelec Ltd., the U.K.-based contractor the PCPC hired, has successfully completed the first of the two-phase repair work with the re-insulation of the generator’s damaged coils.

With plant operation restored, PCPC will focus next on the second phase for the permanent fix of the technical issues involved.

This, the company said, will take place concurrently with the annual preventive maintenance schedule from October to November 2025 when replacement parts from abroad become available.

“We expect that this phased repair will enhance the overall operational capabilities of our power plant. This will enable the company to take a more proactive role in strengthening the overall power supply levels in Panay and other areas we serve, and in preventing similar situations from occurring in the future,” the company said.

PCPC has informed government leaders, regulators, and officials in the energy sector of this development.

The company committed to provide updates on this matter as soon as they are available.
