STI Education projects 13-fold profit surge amid record enrollment

Private schools operator STI Education Systems Holdings Inc. opn Monday reported a 13-fold increase in net income for the quarter ending September, posting P263.2 million, compared to P19.75 million in the same period last year. This was primarily driven by significant growth in enrollment and operational efficiency improvements.

STI Education reported total revenue of P1.03 billion, a 60 percent increase from previous year’s P650.6 million. The company credited the 15 percent rise in overall enrollment, along with the early start of classes for the 2024-2025 academic year, for the revenue boost.

STI total enrollment for the current academic year reached a high of 138,060 students, with over 100,000 enrolled in programs regulated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), marking a 20 percent year-over-year growth. This surge underscores the growing demand for higher education programs that now include degrees in IT, business, hospitality, tourism, psychology, and criminology.

“The significant growth in enrollment played a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s financial performance,” said the company in its earnings statement.

STI continued to invest in infrastructure. Notable developments include property acquisitions in Alabang and Tanauan, Batangas, for new STI Academic Centers, as well as ongoing renovations across existing campuses to increase classroom capacity. STI also completed a P243.2 million school of basic education building at STI West Negros University (STI WNU) in Bacolod City.

STI WNU, which offers a range of programs from pre-elementary to postgraduate levels, is capable of accommodating up to 15,000 students. The new building is designed to support the growing student population and improve the overall educational experience at the campus.

With 63 campuses across the country and a total student capacity of 146,585, STI continues to diversify its offering beyond its original focus on IT education, ensuring that students have access to a wide range of academic pathways, including junior and senior high school programs.

STI Education’s performance highlights its strong position in the growing Philippine education sector, driven by both increased demand and strategic investments in facilities and programs.
