HGC bares new data center interconnect solution for PH

HGC Global Communications Limited has launched a new Data Center Interconnect (DCI) service in the Philippines, connecting eight local data centers in response to growing regional demand for high-performance data center-to-data center connectivity. The new service is part of HGC’s broader vision to build shared digital infrastructure across Southeast Asia.

The DCI service offers direct, low-latency connections between data centers, with no intermediate nodes, ensuring faster and more reliable data transfers. This connectivity is crucial as the Philippines sees a surge in cloud services, content hosting, and demand for advanced technologies like AI and cybersecurity.

Andrew Kwok, CEO of HGC, highlighted the Philippines’ strategic role in the company’s expansion plans, emphasizing the importance of the country’s digital transformation and its potential as a regional tech hub. The new service is designed to connect the Philippines with HGC’s existing networks in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, reinforcing its digital capabilities.

In collaboration with major local data center operators including Digital Edge, STT GDC Philippines, and VITRO Inc., HGC’s DCI service aims to accelerate the country’s digital economy, offering telcos a cost-effective way to enhance their service portfolios while promoting innovation and connectivity across Southeast Asia.
