Megawide wins Caticlan Airport terminal contract from San Miguel

Megawide Construction Corp. expects to break ground next month after securing from a unit of San Miguel Corp. the contract to build the new passenger terminal at the Caticlan Airport, the gateway to world famous island of Boracay. The project is expected to be completed in three years.

The passenger terminal project, owned and operated by Trans Aire Development Holdings Corp. (TADHC), a subsidiary of SMC Infrastructure, marks another milestone for Megawide, a listed construction firm.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Megawide to work with San Miguel and contribute to the development of a world-class facility at Caticlan Airport. We are eager to bring our engineering expertise and sustainable practices to this landmark project,” said Megawide CEO and Chairman Edgar Saavedra.

Megawide has been involved in the multiyear upgrade of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the development of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, and the construction of Clark International Airport.

SMC, through its infrastructure arm, has been actively involved in the development of major airports in the Philippines, including the New Manila International Airport in Bulakan and the rehabilitation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

Ramon S. Ang, chairman and chief executive officer of San Miguel, expressed confidence in Megawide’s capabilities, underscoring the company’s proven track record in developing various infrastructure projects.
