GoodSam Medical Center, part of Mount Grace Hospitals Inc. (MGHI), has become Nueva Ecija’s first medical facility to run on renewable energy, via a supply deal with First Gen Group.
The agreement, signed last week, covers 360 kW from First Gen’s Unified Leyte geothermal plants, raising MGHI’s total RE-powered hospitals to 17. It falls under the government’s Green Energy Option Program, letting qualified users source clean power directly from RE providers.
“Lower carbon footprint and cost savings will improve services for Novo Ecijanos,” said GoodSam president Richard “Ritchie” Lirio.
First Gen already supplies 16 other MGHI hospitals from Nueva Ecija hydro and Leyte/Cotabato geothermal facilities. Ten qualify via the Retail Aggregation Program, which lets users combine demand to meet the 100 kW threshold.
MGHI is one of the country’s largest hospital networks and part of the Unilab Group. First Gen leads Philippine RE with 1.76 GW capacity across 31 wind, solar, hydro and geothermal facilities.
