Starting Wednesday, 26 March 2025, Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, will extend its weekday train service hours by 30 minutes. The last trains will now depart Dr. Santos Station at 10:30 PM and Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 10:45 PM, providing more flexibility for evening commuters. However, there will be no change to the early morning schedule, with first trains departing at 4:30 AM on weekdays and 5:00 AM on weekends.
LRMC president Enrico Benipayo said the extension aligns with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) initiative to improve service for the public, while also ensuring that the added hours do not affect maintenance schedules, which are crucial for safety and reliability. LRMC is also focused on enhancing service through additional trains and fleet expansion.
The public is encouraged to plan their trips, as LRT-1 ticket booths will close five minutes before the last train departs. This extension follows a similar move by the DOTr, which recently extended MRT-3’s evening operations by one hour.
With the extended service, commuters can expect more convenient options for late-night travel, improving overall commuting efficiency in Metro Manila.
