New Zealand enhances EMS capabilities with Airbus H145 helicopters

New Zealand’s Search and Rescue Services (SRS) has placed an order for four Airbus H145 helicopters to strengthen its emergency medical services (EMS) operations. This addition will expand SRSL’s fleet, which already includes H145 and BK117 helicopters, allowing for better coverage across the country’s challenging terrains and remote communities.

Christian Venzal, managing director of Airbus Helicopters in Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the role of helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) in New Zealand, emphasizing the H145’s advanced technology and safety features as key to meeting the unique demands of the region. The H145 is recognized for its reliability, versatility, and low CO2 emissions, making it an ideal choice for critical, time-sensitive medical missions.

With over 1,740 H145 helicopters in service globally, including nearly 600 for HEMS operations, this latest order further solidifies the H145’s position as a leader in the market for emergency medical services. The acquisition will enable SRS to continue providing swift, efficient, and safe medical care to those in need across New Zealand.
