Manila Electric Co retail arm MPower has renewed its supply agreement with Toyota Aisin Philippines Inc. (TAP) for the energy needs of its manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The facility, known as the first manual transmission manufacturing plant outside Japan for Toyota Motor Corp., plays a key role in the global automotive supply chain, exporting 95 percent of its drivetrain components worldwide.
MPower has supplied TAP with electricity since 2013, ensuring reliable power for the plant’s operations. TAP also credited MPower for its role in its transition to 100 percent renewable energy in December 2019.
The deal highlights the importance of reliable energy provision for major manufacturing operations, especially in critical industries like automotive production. Allan Cantal, TAP acting general manager, emphasized MPower’s contribution to both operational efficiency and environmental goals.
