MPTC gears up for Holy Week vehicle surge

As the Holy Week draws near, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) braces for a 10 percent surge in vehicular traffic across its network of expressways and is rolling out a comprehensive response plan to ensure a smooth and safe journey for travelers.

Anticipating the seasonal spike in road travel, MPTC is activating its “Biyaheng Arangkada Semana Santa” program — a multifaceted initiative focused on enhanced assistance services, road safety, and toll plaza efficiency.

“MPTC’s role during Holy Week goes beyond traffic management by taking measures towards ensuring a travel experience that’s safe, seamless, and reassuring,” said Jose K. Ma. Lim, president and CEO of MPTC. “’Biyaheng Arangkada Semana Santa’ reflects our commitment to service that anticipates the needs of our motorists and helps families reconnect and travel with peace of mind,” he added.

To accommodate the expected increase in volume, MPTC will deploy over 2,000 personnel from 8 April across the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector, Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).

Key elements of MPTC’s Holy Week support plan include:

    • 24/7 motorist assistance via the 1-35000 hotline and MPT DriveHub app
    • Roadside emergency stations strategically located along expressways
    • Free towing to the nearest exit for Class 1 and Class 1M vehicles on CCLEX
    • On-call emergency medical services
    • Basic mechanical checks at rest and refuel stations
    • RFID awareness and readiness campaigns to ease toll plaza congestion

These efforts are part of MPTC’s continued push for safer, more efficient road travel, with the company emphasizing its commitment to delivering a positive travel experience during one of the country’s busiest travel periods.
