Electricity sales rise lifts Repower 1Q earnings

Repower Energy Development Corp. (REDC), a run-of-river hydropower developer, posted a 32 percent year-on-year increase in net income to P92.5 million in the first quarter, driven by higher energy sales.

The company reported a 6.1 percent rise in electricity sales, while bottom-line growth was further supported by a 53 percent drop in operating expenses, attributed to operational streamlining and fewer plant repairs due to minimal natural disruptions.

The increase in electricity generation underscores REDC’s commitment to operational efficiency and maximizing plant performance.

Building on this momentum, REDC is preparing to launch its P4 billion, 15-megawatt Pulanai Hydropower Plant in Bukidnon in the third quarter of 2025, three months ahead of schedule. Once operational, the new facility is expected to double REDC’s current generating capacity.

At present, REDC operates eight hydropower plants across the Luzon region with a combined capacity of 17.35 MW, and has several more projects in various stages of development.
