Job scam uses deputy BSP governor’s photo

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued a public advisory after receiving reports of a scam involving the unauthorized use of Deputy Governor Chuchi G. Fonacier’s photo in bogus online job offers.

According to the BSP, individuals have reported receiving unsolicited messages via Viber from accounts misusing Fonacier’s image. These messages allegedly offer employment opportunities with an e-commerce company, falsely promising daily earnings between ₱500 and ₱5,000.

The BSP underscored the significance of this incident, emphasizing that the exploitation of a high-ranking central bank official’s image is a serious attempt to lend false legitimacy to fraudulent activities. Such misuse raises concerns about potential identity theft, reputational damage, and public trust.

In response, the BSP strongly advises the public to avoid engaging with these unsolicited offers and to never disclose personal or financial information to unverified individuals. It also urges individuals to verify the authenticity of any messages or offers claiming to be associated with BSP personnel.

Reports of such fraudulent activities should be directed to the BSP through its official communication channels.
