Airlines launch June seat sales amid rising competition

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and AirAsia Philippines have launched major seat sales running from 2 to 15 June, aiming to stimulate travel demand and expand market reach during the midyear travel period.

Flag carrier PAL’s Independence Day Seat Sale offers fares as low as ₱219 one-way base fare for domestic flights and USD45 roundtrip base fare on select international routes. The promotion supports PAL’s strategy to encourage more Filipinos to travel in celebration of freedom and exploration, while boosting its revenue amid rising travel appetite.

AirAsia Philippines, on the other hand, unveiled its Fiesta Promo, offering ₱208 one-way base fares on key domestic routes such as Bacolod, Kalibo, Iloilo, and Tacloban. Tickets booked during the sale are valid for travel from 2 June to 30 November 2025, targeting both leisure travelers and returning Filipinos.

“After Kalibo and Caticlan (Boracay), we’re putting the spotlight on Tacloban… a key destination for both local festivities and homecomings,” said Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines head of communications and corporate affairs.

The move follows AirAsia’s aggressive promo strategy in 2025, including 11 seat sales such as its widely received PISO fare campaign, aimed at expanding passenger volume on both domestic and international routes.

These concurrent sales underscore the increasing competition among local carriers to secure market share, optimize seat load factors, and capture pent-up travel demand during the lean travel months between summer and the holiday season.
