Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) must begin adopting artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency, lower costs, and stay competitive, according to Converge ICT Solutions Inc. CEO and 51st Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC&E) chairman Dennis Anthony Uy.
Speaking at the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCI) North Luzon Area Business Conference, Uy stressed that even the smallest enterprises can benefit from AI, which is rapidly transforming global business practices.
“AI is not just for medium to large companies. Micro and small businesses can also find a foothold in the use of this game-changing technology,” Uy said, noting that Philippine MSMEs are still at the early stages of digital adoption.
Uy emphasized the global momentum of AI, particularly after visiting Taiwan’s semiconductor hubs, and noted that while local MSMEs may not yet tap into international manufacturing chains, they can still leverage AI tools for day-to-day operations.
Bataan governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III echoed this push, pledging provincial support for tech-based start-ups and digital businesses. “The creative and innovative industry is key to accelerating growth, especially for the youth,” Garcia said.
Highlighting the practicality of AI, Converge and its partners organized the Byte Forward Hackathon in Bataan, where MSMEs worked with college students to find AI-powered solutions to real business challenges.
Uy said AI adoption will take center stage at the 51st Philippine Business Conference and Expo on October 20–22, which he described as a “technology-forward” event aimed at helping MSMEs future-proof their operations.
