Philippine Airlines (PAL) has launched direct flights between Manila and Da Nang, expanding its Vietnam operations to three destinations—more than in any other ASEAN country. The initial service operates three times weekly, with plans to increase to four weekly flights by November 2025.
PAL president Richard Nuttall highlighted the route’s significance, noting it reinforces the strong bilateral ties between the Philippines and Vietnam. The expansion also aligns with upcoming milestones in diplomatic relations, including the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2026.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines, Lai Thai Binh, described the route as a cultural and people-to-people bridge, while DOT undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano underscored its role in supporting rising tourism demand.
With the addition of Da Nang—an emerging hub known for its natural beauty, cultural sites, and vibrant food scene—PAL now operates 24 weekly nonstop flights to Vietnam, including services to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and a Cebu-Ho Chi Minh City route. The Manila-Da Nang flights use Airbus A321 aircraft, offering Business and Economy Class.
