EEI Corp. secures P15.7-billion PIEC contract

EEI Corp. announced on Monday that it has received the notice of award from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the design and construction of Phase 1 of the Philippine International Exhibition Center (PIEC), a government-led infrastructure project seeking to transform the country into a premier meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions or MICE destination in Asia.

The P15.7-billion contract covers detailed engineering and design, foundation, and key structural works for the PIEC, which will rise in Pasay Harbor City, a newly reclaimed area in Manila Bay. With a gross exhibition area of 269,000 square meters, the PIEC is positioned to become the largest exhibition and convention center in Southeast Asia, supporting both local and international events.

“This project marks a pivotal milestone for EEI, as it reflects our commitment to supporting the government’s vision of economic growth through strategic infrastructure,” said EEI president and CEO Henry D. Antonio. “It will not only showcase Filipino creativity and talent but also reinforce EEI’s role as a partner in nation-building.”

The PIEC is seen as a key contributor to trade promotion, tourism development, foreign investment inflows, and overall economic advancement. EEI emphasized that the award underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth and highlights the company’s capability to deliver large-scale, high-impact projects.

Antonio said that while some materials may need to be sourced internationally, the project will aim to maximize local content, showcasing the strength of the Philippine construction industry.

EEI said the contract award aligns with its strategic focus on high-impact, future-driven infrastructure developments and reflects confidence in its technical and project execution expertise.
