The Department of Agriculture (DA) has formally turned over a ₱70.2-million rice processing facility to farmers in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, a key rice-producing town.
Funded under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) and delivered through PhilMech, the modern facility features a rice mill capable of processing 3 metric tons per hour, along with high-capacity dryers.
DA officials say the facility will help farmers become less dependent on traders, increase their income, and improve control over their harvests. The move aligns with President Marcos Jr.’s vision of a modernized and self-reliant agriculture sector.
